Motor City FC started their 2018 Women’s Premier League Soccer (WPSL) season at a new home stadium, in the new WPSL Ohio Valley Division with an impressive 8-0 win over New York’s Empire United Revs.
Coach Aaron Byrd’s squad, featuring a number of returning players, controlled the game from the kick-off rarely letting the Revs into MCFC territory.
Motor City lit up the scoreboard in the 9th minute with a goal from Madi Wolfbauer who beat the Revs goalie with a shot just inside the far post assisted by Megan Connolly.

Megan Connolly added to the tally directing the ball into the net on a cross by Lex Warner in the 82nd minute.
Madi Alexander added the final score of the night in the 88th minute with a shot that ricocheted off a Rev’s defender and the Rev’s goalie into the back of the net.
Coach Byrd was very impressed with his team’s season-opening performance.
“I was happy with the way the game started. With this being the first game of the year we were trying to figure some things out with positions and personnel. “
“We made some adjustments at half time and talked about things we could do better in the second half that allowed us to score a few more goals.”
“When you have this many talented players, they start to figure things out on their own and begin to understand situations on how to break down defenders, making it really fun soccer to watch.”
Motor City FC travels to Columbus, Ohio to meet the Columbus Eagles on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Otterbien University, 1 S Grove St., Westerville, OH. Kick-off is 7:00 PM.
