Motor City FC Alumni Earn Collegiate Honors


Northwestern Senior, Marissa Viggiano  was named to her second straight All-Big Ten First Team. Viggiano tallied 2 goals and 5 assists this season and her 20 career assists tie her for second-most in program history.

Michigan Senior, Reilly Martin earned her fourth straight conference honor as she was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team. Martin ranked third on the team with 6 goals and 4 assists on the 2018 season, highlighted by her second career two-goal performance against Central Michigan. Martin is one of two players to start all 18 games for the Wolverines in 2018. She heads into the post season with a career 21 goals and 24 assists.

Michigan Sophomore, Midfielder Sara Stratigakis earned her second straight conference honor being named to The All-Big Ten Second Team. Stratigakis played in all 18 games in the 2018 season, 17 as a starter. She is tied for 10th in the Big Ten Conference with 17 points (7 goals, 3 assists) scoring 2 game-winning goals for the Wolverines this season.

Northwestern Senior, Brenna Lovera was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team. Lovera lead Northwestern in offense this season with 8 goals and 19 assists, tied for sixth-best in a season and eighth-best in program history. Her goal-scoring production tied her for third-best in the conference and her 12 career, game-winning goals were a program record, besting the old record by 4 goals.

Mississippi State Senior, Carly Mauldin earned Second Team All-SEC honors. Mauldin started every match over her four-year career and is currently fifth in Bulldog history with 6,436 career minutes and tied for eighth with 71 career starts. Mauldin netted four goals this season and her nine points on the 2018 season are her career best.

Junior, Taylor Kornieck was named Colorado University Athlete of the Week, Presented by Arrow. Kornieck scored 2 goals and added an assist in the Buffalo’s 3-0 win over California. Kornieck scored Colorado’s lone goal as the Buffalos dropped a 2-1 decision to UCLA on Sunday, October 28, 2018.

In Big Ten tournament play, the Michigan Wolverines gave up a goal in the 89th minute in a 1-0 loss to Penn State on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Reilly Martin, Sara Stratigakis and Taylor Timko all contributed for the Wolverines.

Seniors Lexy Warner and Brenna Cockerill played their final college games for Michigan State as the Spartans lost a 2-0 decision to Nebraska on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.

Illinois advanced to the Big Ten finals beating Wisconsin 3-0 in a shootout after playing to a 2-2 draw in double overtime on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Sophomore Madi Wolfbauer netted the third, and final penalty kick for the Fighting Illini.

In other conference play, Alexa Spaanstra had a goal and an assist as the Virginia Cavaliers advanced to the ACC Semifinals defeating Louisville 2-0 on Sunday, October 28, 2018.

Florida State advances to the ACC Semifinals with a 1-0 win over Duke on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Kristina Lynch assisted on the winning goal.

Florida State will play Virginia in a semifinal match on Friday, November 2, 2018.

Colleen McKay assisted on the lone goal as Western Michigan advanced to the MAC Semifinals with a 1-0 win over Akron on Sunday, October 28, 2018. The Broncos face off with Ball State University on Friday, November 2, 2018.

The Florida Gators advanced to the SEC quarterfinals defeating Auburn 2-1 in a penalty-kick shootout Sunday, October 28, 2018.  Madison Alexander put Florida on the board first, scoring on a penalty kick. Auburn tied the match at 1-1 and stayed that way through double overtime, resulting in the shootout. Florida plays Vanderbilt on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
